Cotman Synthetic Brushes for Water Colour

In creating this range of pure synthetic brushes the same skills are applied as those used in making the finest sable brushes, skills generated over 100 years ago.

The secret of the Cotman Brush lies in the fibres, blending synthetic fibres of differing thicknesses achieves the three most importnat qualities sought after by the artist. The thicker fibres contribute strength and spring whilst the thinner fibres improve colour holding capacity. Together they retain a perfect point time after time.

A wide range of sizes and styles to suit all applications is available giving most of the qulities of sable at an economic price.

The range features blue polished handles and seamless nickel plated ferrules.

Series 111 - Short handled round - Designed specifically for use with water colour and water based media, these round headed brushes have good colour carrying capacity and hold a sharp point.

Series 222 - Short handled designers' - As with series 111 these brushes are suitable for use with all forms of water based media. They possess an elongated head shape, which gives an extra fine point and greater colour holding capacity, which is more suitable for designers.

Series 666 - One stroke - Designed specifically for one stroke and lettering work, these brushes posses good spring and colour holding capacity.

University is a range of good quality white polyester artists' brushes with distinctive white tipped red handles.

Stiff enough to use with fluid oils and acrylics, yet soft enough to use with water colours. University is a genuine all purpose range. Series 233 - Short handled round

The classic round brush. The smaller sizes are indispensable for details and highlights especially with water colour, whielst the larger sizes give clean linear marks.

Series 234 short handled bright

Produces defined marks. Gives control of thicker, or larger amounts of colour. Good for craft applications as the short hair controls the colour easily and the short handle gives good control.

Series 235 - Long handled round

The brush head is the same as series 233, but the longer handle is generally more suitable for oil and acrylic painters.

Series 237 - Long handled bright

The brush head is the same as series 234, the longer handle is generally more suitable for oil and acrylic painters.

Series 238 - Long handled fan

A finishing brush, mostly used for portraiture and landscapes. Creates soft details like skin and skies when blending. Also useful for stippling and graining effects in landscapes and painting cloth.
